I’m a “lifer” in the crafting world: knitting, crocheting, and needle arts. I live pretty much halfway between Orangeville and Shelburne. Nice small town… It’s growing really fast. We have lots of great local people that we see regularly and we really enjoy seeing them. I like to know who works in the bank and who runs the shop down the road. We don’t knit what Grandma used to knit either. It’s really progressed. Knitting has changed a lot and basically every project you do – you try to increase your skill level. We have ladies that come up from Georgetown, which is a bit of a trek and we get people from London, Wasaga Beach, Collingwood… from all over. It’s like a little family. I get people come to my door and say, “hey you know, do you want to sponsor the Figure Skating Club” and you do because they’re your local and my son has skated… my daughters have skated, you know… and you try to use your local businesses as much as you can. I think it’s really important. I appreciate it and I’m sure everyone else in town appreciates it too – when they get good patronage from the local community.
